Martinhal Beach Resort provides a dedicated Sports club for those tennis players, cyclists and watersports enthusiasts. Cycling is a popular pastime and a perfect activity for all the family for biking while holidaying in the Algarve. Emphasis on biking in the Costa Vicentina Natural Park nearby makes this a popular activity year-round, but especially during the winter months due to the mild climate. The surrounding Natural Park is superb for all derivatives of cycling including sports mountain biking, trekking and racing.

Martinhal offers high quality “Cube” bikes for rent all year round.

The famous cycle touring path, “Ecovia do Litoral” is one of a series of cycle touring trails prevalent throughout the country, this one seeing the stunning Algarve coast via a West to East route, from Cape St Vincent in neighbouring Sagres to the Spanish border at Vila Real St. Antonio.

Where is Martinhal Resort Located?

The Martinhal resort is in a perfect location to explore the local area. The beaches of Costa Vicentina are vast, and cycling routes into the natural park. The two nearest two towns are an excellent introduction to this beautiful part of the country. Lagos, a settlement approximately 25 minutes away is more tourist-driven, with thousands visiting the historical town, stemming from its Moorish roots of the 6th century, the culture inherited is fascinatingly rich. The town of Sagres is much closer, less than 10 minutes’ drive west – this peninsula point of the Algarve offers the adventurous the best surfing breaks around.

This town, although small in its size, due to its coastal location has been rather mighty. Sagres was a key place of historical interest in the golden age of the Portuguese Renaissance in the 15th Century. This era was one in which Portugal established itself as a European Colonial power, heralding many voyages of the first exploration, including Cape Verde, Madeira and Brazil, amongst many other expeditions.

The local area has some flawless restaurants and bars. The Vila Velha

Overlooking the harbour in nearby Sagres, those who choose to dine out of the resort can sample freshly caught crab kebabs, lobster and squid – all on the Menu at A Tasca (+351 28 262 4177)

What To Expect From Your Holiday

Terrace Rooms

The blend of the Martinhal’s Contemporary architecture is both tasteful and sumptuous, yet manages to compliment the unspoilt region and natural park of Costa Vincentina next-door.

Terrace Rooms at Hotel Martinhal are located within the main building and surrounded by the private gardens of the Martinhal Beach Resort.

Hotel

The Monte da Quinta Resort is located in the very heart of Quinta do Lago, with 1,2 & 3 bedroom luxury hotel suite all available subject to availability and room type:

Each room or suite has the following: terrace, lounge, dining room, kitchen and en suite facilities.

All Monte da Quinta Suites also boast fantastic air conditioning, wireless internet and modern kitchens, fully equipped with everything you might need as a family or group staying in for the evening. There are two views at the Monte da Quinta Suites, 1 of the front gardens and the other being of the Resort (Sunrise).

Beach Rooms

Hotel Martinhal Beach Rooms are built in clusters of four, nearer the beach, a small walk away from the main Hotel area.

The Hotel Beach Rooms are flat-roofed and surrounded entirely by natural timber to blend lavishly into the environment into the nearby landscape. Each Martinhal Hotel Beach Room opens out on to a decadent private balcony or terrace with stunning beach and ocean views.

AS Dunas

The As Dunas restaurant at the Martinhal Resort overlooks the Martinhal Beach. Offering an al fresco lunch-time menu, this fantastic eaterie serves simple snacks during the afternoon and transforms into a candlelit dining spot for all the family by evening.

A shaded outdoor terrace allows for meals al fresco day and evening dining– candlelight dining with the backdrop of the ocean is the signature of this stunning Martinhal restaurant.

The children are catered for all day long with a fenced sand play area and even a trampoline – for children (sorry!) – with a kid’s menu to keep all the family happy.

Club 98

The resort’s Sports Club, “Club 98” is located to the north of the resort. There are both two tennis courts, two table tennis tables and a large swimming pool, along with a multi-purpose sports field – perfect for football matches and training at sundown with friends.

Club 98 is extremely popular with Martinhal’s teenage guests, and a bar is situated conveniently by the pool serving all day snacks, ice creams and beverages.

M Bar

M Bar is a fabulous surf bar for all the family. Great vibe with live entertainment,  there is even a 1970´s VW camper van booth. There is also a bar area for children with games and an outdoor play area.

M Bar offers breakfast, lunch, and even afternoon tea with scones and cakes! Chill out after a day on the beach with superb drinks, cocktail and bar food menu.

SPA Finisterra

Our stunning Spa at the Martinhal Beach Resort offers a broad choice of massages and treatments. Each treatment uses products from the exclusive Terraké spa brand and Voya, which are 100% organic.

A sensual blend of aromatic oils, spices and exotic perfumes compliment the ancient and contemporary massage techniques designed to leave each Martinhal Spa guest feeling relaxed and totally rejuvenated.

The Beach

Just beyond the lengths of surfing paradise in the western Algarve, the sandy public beach with which it shares its name, sits exquisitely in a small village-like complex within acres of protected and national parkland.

The resort is directly built to roll the right side out of bed to hit the stunning beach, a glimmering spectacle epitomising the South-Western Algarve. The resort’s array of hotel and terrace, village and villa accommodation cleverly juxtaposes the national park surrounding the-the development while a clean view to the wide stretch of ocean vista is a sight fit for last breaths.

Sport Academies

The Martinhal Beach Resort has five sports academies, where the sports are organised by age bands.

The Martinhal Sports Academies children learn exhilarating new skills while having fun and interacting with others in a wide range of sporting activities, such as: surfing, windsurfing, swimming, tennis and football. Each Martinhal Academy is run by fully trained and experienced staff with regular tuition and tournaments organised for football and tennis throughout your holiday. The Martinhal Academies are available during the popular UK school holiday periods.

Toddlers, Children and “Raposinhos”

For the younger guests at the Martinhal, there is the superb Raposinhos (Portuguese for “little fox”) Children’s Club.

The Raposinhos Club has a wealth of fun and activities, not to mention toys to keep Martinhal’s youngest guests entertained and parents a well-earned break whether they wish to hit the pool or the spa for a couple of hours.

The Martinhal Crèche caters for children from 6 to 23 months.

Kids Club caters for children from 2 to 4 years.

The summer holidays sees 5 to 8-year-olds are provided for in the Raposinhos Club, which includes an indoor and outdoor supervised activities programme.

The Martinhal Children’s club is staffed by an experienced child care team who take pride in their work and the nurturing of your child -ensuring they have an excellent time while you relax!

Faro FAO Airport is 90 minutes away (115km) from this stunning luxury resort.  Direct flights are available from most of the European capitals to the Faro (FAO), Lisbon and Seville’s international airports; all a short drive from the Martinhal Beach Resort.

Under three hours flight time from London, EasyJet, Monarch and British Airways all offer fantastic value and regular, efficient flights to Faro (FAO) airport.

Car Hire

Design Holidays’ experts will arrange a hire car if you’re thinking about your private transfers from Faro airport, or looking to explore the local area a little. Fuel costs sit approximately 15€ from Faro Airport to the Martinhal Beach resort, and prices vary depending on the length of hire.
